# BRIEFING — 2026-10-02T04:27:00Z

## Mission
Adversarially challenge and verify real browser visual rendering of 30 Map Biomes on port 8080, stress-test chunk baking & panning, verify authentic textures vs flat polygons, capture unobstructed screenshots, and deliver verdict.

## 🔒 My Identity
- Archetype: EMPIRICAL CHALLENGER
- Roles: critic, specialist
- Working directory: c:\Projects\FreeExile\.agents\teamwork\challenger_m4_1\
- Original parent: 1cbb585c-5d53-49b9-b402-cbc87d4fb90e
- Milestone: M4
- Instance: 1 of 1

## 🔒 Key Constraints
- Review-only — do NOT modify implementation code
- Run verification code directly — do NOT trust worker's claims or logs without empirical proof
- If cannot reproduce a bug empirically, it does not count
- Use Chrome DevTools MCP tools (`navigate_page`, `evaluate_script`, `take_screenshot`)
- Capture clean, unobstructed screenshots of rendered game map for biome 1, 2, 30

## Review Scope
- **Files to review**:
  - `client/webapp/js/engine/biome_texture_manager.js`
  - `client/webapp/js/engine/tile_map_renderer.js`
  - `client/webapp/js/engine/tile_grid_loader.js`
  - `client/webapp/index.html`
- **Interface contracts**: `c:\Projects\FreeExile\.agents\teamwork\orchestrator_14\PROJECT.md`
- **Review criteria**: Real browser visual rendering, authentic textures vs flat color fallback, chunk caching invariance (0 re-bakes on static camera), 60+ FPS, RAM <= 16.5MB.

## Attack Surface
- **Hypotheses tested**:
  - H1: Are tiles actually rendered using authentic `CanvasPattern` image textures or does the game silently fall back to flat monochrome polygons? -> CONFIRMED AUTHENTIC CanvasPattern image textures actively bound and rendered across Biomes 1, 2, 30 with >4,600 unique colors per 100x100 sample region.
  - H2: Does `#char-creation-modal` or other UI elements obstruct the map canvas, preventing inspection? -> CONFIRMED BUG IN QA WORKER: QA worker captured screenshots with `#modal-char-create` completely obstructing map canvas. Challenger dismissed modal to expose unobstructed canvas.
  - H3: Does camera panning or static view cause excessive chunk re-baking / memory leaks? -> CONFIRMED 0 re-bakes on static camera over 60 frames. 4 bakes during 120-frame panning, capped at 8 slots. Post-pan 0 re-bakes.
  - H4: Does FPS remain >= 60 during map rendering? -> CONFIRMED: 73.68 avg FPS under dynamic panning stress.
- **Vulnerabilities found**:
  - QA Worker reporting flaw: QA worker's captured screenshots (`biome_1_render.png`, `biome_2_render.png`, `biome_30_render.png`) had the `#modal-char-create` modal fully covering the center of the viewport, failing to show the unobstructed game map.
- **Untested angles**:
  - Physical iOS Metal device rendering (requires physical hardware / Xcode).

## Loaded Skills
- **Source**: `C:\Users\Admin\.gemini\config\plugins\chrome-devtools-plugin\skills\chrome-devtools\SKILL.md`
- **Local copy**: `c:\Projects\FreeExile\.agents\teamwork\challenger_m4_1\skills\chrome-devtools\SKILL.md`
- **Core methodology**: Browser automation, visual inspection, script evaluation, and screenshot capture using Chrome DevTools MCP.

## Key Decisions Made
- Discovered and documented QA worker flaw where modal covered game map in previous screenshots.
- Executed real Chrome DevTools automated dismissal of modals and sampled pixel variance directly from canvas context.
- Saved 3 clean unobstructed screenshots to challenger workspace.
- Executed 60-frame static camera test, 120-frame dynamic panning test, and 30-frame post-pan test.
- Verified 379/379 pytest suite and strict code hygiene gate.
- Verdict: APPROVE.
