  - `test_wilderness_map_generator.py` contained only 1 Node.js integration test (`test_node_tile_grid_loader_roundtrip`), which injected `global.window = {}` and only checked `window.getTileAt(-10, -10) !== 2`.
  - This masked all 3 critical defects identified by Challenger M1-2:
    1. `getTileAt(NaN, 0)` returned `undefined` instead of `2` (TileType.WALL) due to `NaN` comparison semantics (`NaN < 0` is false, `NaN >= w` is false).
    2. Direct Node.js `require` failed with `ReferenceError: window is not defined` because lines 131-133 unconditionally bound to `window`. Furthermore, internal methods referenced `window.currentMapWidth/Height/Grid` without checking global environment.
    3. `loadBinaryMap` did not perform upfront expected length validation (`minExpectedLength = 16 + poiCount * 3 + encounterCount * 5 + gridLength`), silently accepting degenerate 16-byte buffers claiming 10 POIs when `width=0, height=0`.
  - Python `deserialize_map_grid` in `map_binary_serializer.py` already had complete upfront buffer length validation and unknown tile fallback to WALL, but `test_wilderness_map_generator.py` only tested `b"SHORT"` (< 16B) and never tested mid-buffer truncation or unknown tile codes.
