## 1. Review Summary

**Verdict**: **APPROVE**

Milestone 2 delivers a robust, multi-tiered anti-regression and automated verification suite for FreeExile's internationalization (i18n) and reactive Chat UI architecture:
1. `tests/e2e/test_i18n_reactive_switching_e2e.py` (193 lines $\le 350$ soft cap): Successfully executes Playwright with Microsoft Edge headless on Windows against an ephemeral local HTTP server. It proves that changing languages occurs in-place with zero page reloads (`window.__sessionNavCount === 1`), dynamically updates all 8 channel tabs, input placeholders, send buttons, cooldown badges, and verifies non-ASCII CJK round-trip rendering (`VI -> EN -> ZH -> JA -> KO -> VI`) with zero unhandled console errors.
2. `tests/unit/test_i18n_event_bus.py` (328 lines $\le 350$ soft cap): Provides 23 deterministic unit tests covering observer mechanics, subscriber isolation, fallback chaining, 9-language dictionary parity, DOM reactivity, and edge case resilience.
3. `tools/lint/check_i18n_hygiene.py` (337 lines $\le 350$ soft cap): Enforces strict static analysis preventing hardcoded Vietnamese strings in UI scripts, verifying 100% symmetric 9-language key parity, and detecting dangling markup keys.
4. **Zero Regressions**: 100% of existing regression test suites passed (20/20 in chat challenger suites, 60/60 in typography E2E, 23/23 in M1 parity & reactive suites).

No integrity violations, facades, hardcoded cheat results, or bypassed tasks were found. All verifications were executed and validated independently.

## 2. Integrity Audit & Anti-Cheat Findings

- **No Hardcoded Test Facades**: The E2E test runs against the real WebApp codebase (`client/webapp/index.html` and ES modules) served via HTTP and inspected in a real Microsoft Edge browser instance.
- **Genuine DOM Interaction**: Employs real `page.select_option("#lang-select", ...)` and `page.click(...)` triggers, inspecting rendered computed text in the DOM.
- **No Self-Certifying Fabrications**: Independent execution of all test commands confirmed identical passing results.
- **Finding**: **0 Integrity Violations**.

## 3. Findings

### [Minor] Finding 1: Ephemeral Port TOCTOU Race Condition in Test HTTP Server
- **What**: `get_free_port()` opens a socket on port 0, retrieves the assigned OS port, closes the socket, and returns the port number. Subsequently, `ThreadingHTTPServer(("127.0.0.1", cls.server_port), handler)` binds to that port.
- **Where**: `tests/e2e/test_i18n_reactive_switching_e2e.py`, lines 36–41 & 53–56.
- **Why**: Between closing the temporary socket and binding `ThreadingHTTPServer`, another process on the system could theoretically claim the same port (time-of-check to time-of-use race condition).
- **Suggestion**: In a future refactor, bind directly to port 0 in `ThreadingHTTPServer(("127.0.0.1", 0), handler)` and then query `cls.server.server_address[1]` to obtain the allocated port atomically.
- **Impact**: Very low in local development; does not block milestone approval.

### [Minor] Finding 2: Fixed Timeout Waits (`page.wait_for_timeout`) in E2E Script
- **What**: Transitions rely on fixed sleep delays (`wait_for_timeout(100)`, `wait_for_timeout(50)`).
- **Where**: `tests/e2e/test_i18n_reactive_switching_e2e.py`, lines 89, 96, 121, 146, 162, 168, 174, 180.
- **Why**: Under heavy CPU load or constrained CI virtual machines, fixed 50ms/100ms timeouts could theoretically be flaky if event loop ticks are delayed.
- **Suggestion**: Use Playwright's locator assertions (e.g. `expect(page.locator('#chat-send-btn')).to_have_text('Send')`) or `page.wait_for_function(...)` which poll reactively up to a configurable timeout.
- **Impact**: Low; currently runs reliably in 6.56s without flakiness.

## 4. Adversarial Challenges & Stress Testing

### Challenge 1: Browser Navigation Detection Reliability
- **Assumption Challenged**: `window.__sessionNavCount` reliably detects accidental full page reloads or form submissions.
- **Attack Scenario**: If a language change triggered a standard full page reload (`window.location.reload()`), would `window.__sessionNavCount` survive to be measured?
- **Analysis & Result**: If a full reload occurs, the execution context is destroyed and recreated; `window.__sessionNavCount` in the new context would be `undefined` (returning `None` to Python). The assertion `self.assertEqual(nav_session, 1)` expects the integer `1`. If `nav_session` is `None` or 2 (from `beforeunload`), the test will strictly fail.
- **Stress Test**: PASS.

### Challenge 2: Non-ASCII CJK Character Set Rendering in Headless Edge
- **Assumption Challenged**: Dynamic string updates with multi-byte Unicode characters (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) render properly in Microsoft Edge headless without glyph corruption or box fallbacks (``).
- **Attack Scenario**: Rapidly cycle through CJK locales (`ZH` -> `JA` -> `KO` -> `VI`) and read DOM `inner_text`.
- **Analysis & Result**:
  - `zh`: Tab 1 = `"世界"`, Button = `"发送"` $\rightarrow$ Verified.
  - `ja`: Tab 1 = `"ワールド"`, Button = `"送信"` $\rightarrow$ Verified.
  - `ko`: Tab 1 = `"월드"`, Button = `"전송"` $\rightarrow$ Verified.
  - `vi`: Tab 1 = `"Thế Giới"`, Button = `"Gửi"` $\rightarrow$ Verified.
  - All non-ASCII characters match exact catalog strings with zero encoding distortion.
- **Stress Test**: PASS.

### Challenge 3: Console Error Leakage During Reactive Re-render
- **Assumption Challenged**: Switching languages when chat elements, tabs, or tooltips are in various states does not throw unhandled JavaScript exceptions or console warnings.
- **Attack Scenario**: Switch languages after opening chat dock, clicking channels, and checking system permissions.
- **Analysis & Result**: `page.on("pageerror", ...)` and `page.on("console", ...)` collected zero unhandled exceptions. `len(js_errors) == 0` passed cleanly.
- **Stress Test**: PASS.

## 6. Coverage Gaps & Unverified Items

- **Coverage Gap**: E2E test validates 5 languages (`VI`, `EN`, `ZH`, `JA`, `KO`) at the browser DOM level; the remaining 4 languages (`TH`, `DE`, `RU`, `ES`) are validated via static analysis (`check_i18n_hygiene.py`) and unit tests (`test_i18n_event_bus.py`).
  - Risk Level: **Low** (architecture uses the same underlying lookup mechanism for all languages).
  - Recommendation: Accept risk for M2.
- **Unverified Items**: None. All requested tests and verifications were executed.

## 7. Conclusion

The deliverables produced by `worker_m2_1` for Milestone 2 meet all architectural specifications, pass all quality and adversarial stress tests, introduce zero regressions, and strictly comply with project line limits and hygiene standards. Milestone 2 is **APPROVED**.
