# BRIEFING — 2026-10-09T08:22:00Z

## Mission
Empirically probe and adversarially stress-test Milestone M4 deliverables: Mode A vs Mode B audio duration drift and timeline shrinkage, silent clip & missing audio track resilience, and pipeline test suite execution.

## 🔒 My Identity
- Archetype: empirical_challenger
- Roles: critic, specialist

## 🔒 Key Constraints
- Review-only — do NOT modify implementation code
- Run tests directly and empirically verify all claims
- Layout compliance: source and tests outside .agents/teamwork; .agents/teamwork contains only metadata

## Review Scope
- **Files to review**: `05_Production_Pipeline/production_orchestrator.py`, `05_Production_Pipeline/audio_continuity_engine.py`, `05_Production_Pipeline/assemble_ep01_feature.py`, `tests/test_production_pipeline_m4.py`
- **Interface contracts**: `PROJECT.md`, `ORIGINAL_REQUEST.md`, `worker_m4_assembly_1/handoff.md`
- **Review criteria**:
  1. Mode A (`boundary_smoothing`) vs Mode B (`acrossfade`) audio duration loss & A/V cut sync
  2. Fallback concat resilience on silent / missing audio track inputs (no FFmpeg crashes, valid AAC 48k stereo)
  3. Execution of full test suites without regression

## Key Decisions Made
- Authored and executed `tests/test_adversarial_m4_audio_concat_probe.py` covering 5 deep adversarial probe tests.
- Probed Mode B acrossfade vs Mode A boundary_smoothing across 6-shot and 10-shot multi-shot sequences.
- Probed silent and `-an` video stream resilience across `AudioContinuityEngine` and `production_orchestrator.concat_scene_shots` fallback path.
- Executed all three test suites (`test_production_pipeline_m4.py`, `test_adversarial_m3_audio_engine.py`, `test_adversarial_m4_audio_concat_probe.py`) with 26/26 tests passing.
- Identified Critical Bug in `production_orchestrator.py:1170` where naive `.replace("ffmpeg", "ffprobe")` corrupts the WinGet directory path to `ffprobe-9.0.2-full_build\bin\ffprobe.exe` (non-existent), breaking stream detection in fallback concat.
- Issued empirical verdict: **REQUEST_CHANGES** for the 2-line fix in `production_orchestrator.py`.

## Artifact Index
- `BRIEFING.md` — Agent working memory
- `DISPATCH.md` — Inbound message log
- `progress.md` — Liveness & status tracking
- `handoff.md` — Final 5-component handoff report
- `tests/test_adversarial_m4_audio_concat_probe.py` — Adversarial probe test suite (5 passed)

## Attack Surface
- **Hypotheses tested**:
  * Mode B acrossfade causes cumulative audio shrinkage $(N-1) \times d$, leading to severe dialogue desynchronization in multi-shot scenes: CONFIRMED (2.500s shrinkage on 6 shots; 34.3 dB premature audio leak).
  * Mode A boundary_smoothing retains exactly 100.0% audio duration matching video duration with 0.000s loss: CONFIRMED (0.0000s drift; clean isolation at cut).
  * Clips missing audio stream cause FFmpeg `:a matches no streams` crash if not properly guarded: CONFIRMED (AudioContinuityEngine handles correctly, but orchestrator fallback path fails due to corrupted ffprobe path).
- **Vulnerabilities found**:
  * `05_Production_Pipeline/production_orchestrator.py:1170`: `ffprobe_exe = ffmpeg_exe.replace("ffmpeg", "ffprobe")` generates non-existent directory `ffprobe-9.0.2-full_build`, causing silent exception fallback to `has_a = True` and FFmpeg crash during hard-cut fallback concat.
- **Untested angles**: Full physical multi-GPU worker rendering on active Muse.ai remote sessions.
